Spirit of Ireland Poetry & Award Dinner

Celebrate Irish Poetry & Community
Join us for an unforgettable evening that celebrates the rich heritage and culture of Ireland as we celebrate the work of Seamus Heaney. The festivities will begin with a happy hour and captivating performance of traditional Irish music by the local group Carrigaline, whose melodies will transport you straight to the heart of Ireland.

We are honored to welcome the esteemed Irish poet and guest speaker Tony Curtis, who will share his eloquent and evocative verses. His poetry, deeply rooted in Irish tradition, promises to inspire and enchant all who attend.

The evening will also feature an engaging speaker panel, including Professor Sean McDowell of Seattle University and Honorary Consul Bernard Hensey as they share stories from meeting Seamus Heaney and modern perspective on his poetry. Additionally, there will be poetry recitations, where the beauty and power of Irish literature will come to life. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Spirit of Ireland Award, an honor bestowed upon an individual who has made significant contributions to promoting Irish culture and heritage.
